Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday that he is lifting a ban on outdoor interstate youth sports competitions.
Murphy says that the prohibition will expire on Friday. A ban on indoor interstate sports competitions is still in effect.
Spectators at the outdoor events must still wear masks and social distance. Players will need to wear masks when they are not playing.
"While outdoor interstate sports competitions may resume, attendees will be limited to players, coaches and officials and up to two parents or guardians per participating athlete. No additional spectators or attendees will be allowed,” Murphy said.
None of the directives affect collegiate or professional sports activities.
