Professors, students and faculty walked out at Princeton University to protest cuts and policies targeting higher education taken by the Trump administration.

It was part of a nationwide Day of Action taking place on college campuses around the country.

Mitch McEwen, an assistant professor of architecture at Princeton University, was among those protesting on campus Thursday.

“Graduate students here have a thesis project. They have exhibitions to do. To do that as a student, in the midst of fears that their colleagues are getting snatched up on the street by ununiformed agents of a federal government, that has become autocratic and unconstitutional; we can’t do our jobs as educators unless we address this,” said McEwen.

Thursday's events on Princeton University’s campus also included Know Your Rights session held in collaboration with Resistencia Enaccion NJ.

“If I weren’t to lift up my voice, I would be sort of silenced and be part of the problem,” said the organization’s executive director, Ana Paola Pazmino. “I want to be part of a solution"

This comes as The Department of Education investigates Princeton University for antisemitism and puts more than $200 million in grants on hold.

“It’s important that the university stand up. It’s important that in the Ivy League, we don’t follow the Columbia University example,” said McEwen.

In New Jersey, international students at Rutgers, Rowan and Montclair State University have had their visas revoked.

At this point, no Princeton University students have experienced this.

However, according to the college newspaper, several departments have warned students and faculty of potential ICE visits.
