Some big changes are coming to the Mega Millions lottery starting on Saturday.

Among the changes is that the price of a Mega Millions ticket will increase to $5 up from $2.

The news did not make some lottery players happy.

"I think it's a rip-off. The states aren't making enough money, I guess. Depending on what they're going to give, I'm not going to play it,” said Carmine Minnella, of Fords.

Lottery officials say that players will benefit from the changes, including improved odds to win the jackpot, bigger jackpots more frequently, larger starting jackpots, faster-growing jackpots, built-in multiplayer on every play and no break-even prizes. This means that whenever a player wins, they will also win more than the cost of the ticket.

When the increase was announced last year, the lead director for Mega Millions said the agency expects more billion-dollar jackpots than ever before. The ticket price hike will be the second price adjustment in 20 years.
