Hurricane Ida moved east in the United States on Wednesday with at least one tornado hitting a southern New Jersey county.
Footage posted on social media showed a tornado blowing over fields and buildings in the Mullica Hill section of Harrison Township.
The National Weather Service confirmed at least one tornado and social media posts showed homes reduced to rubble in Mullica Hill.
Gov. Phil Murphy says that he has spoken with Harrison Township Mayor Lou Manzo about the situation.
“We’re closely monitoring the situation and will do whatever is needed to support the response & recovery in the days ahead,” Murphy wrote on Twitter.
It was unclear if anyone was injured.
