The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey filed a lawsuit Friday to prevent an Arab company from taking control of operations at Port Newark.
The state of New Jersey has already filed a lawsuit to stop the deal. In the face of mounting opposition, Dubai Ports World based in the United Arab Emirates, says it is willing to delay part of its deal with six U.S. ports, including Port Newark.
The Bush administration promised security would not be a problem and initially vowed to go ahead with the deal. Now the administration is hinting that it may accept a delay in the sale, allowing for a 45-day congressional investigation.
