Students at a Catholic school in Somerset County are shocked Thursday that a popular former teacher is accused of sexual assault.
Police say 39-year-old Pamela Balogh had a 10-month sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student at Immaculata High School. Prosecutors say the assault started in December 2004 and lasted until Balogh left the school in September 2005. Balogh was a health teacher and girls basketball and lacrosse coach. According to prosecutors, many of the assaults occurred in the coaches office at the school.
Balogh was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child. There is no word on Balogh?s current job at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale. However, a judge has ordered her to stay away from children.
