A Pompton Plains woman has become a lifesaver for senior citizens struggling to get COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
Amy Weiss is using more keyboards at once than legendary progressive rock keyboardist Rick Wakeman as a way to try and score appointments for people having a hard time.
The process for booking a vaccine appointment can be maddening especially if you are not tech savvy.
"It's insane," says Weiss. "It's sad because it's so hard."
Weiss realized how hard it was to get appointments while looking for her parents. She now relies on tips and tricks from Facebook and uses every device in her home to help navigate her way through sites.
After her parents received their shots, Weiss started receiving messages from other senior citizens.
Weiss has registered 42 people for appointments in the past three weeks. She's got six people on her waiting list and has helped about 60 others sign themselves up for the vaccine.
"How do you not help people?" says Weiss. "It's just so hard."
Weiss says she has formed relationships and friendships by helping people through the process.
