Election Day has arrived in New York City, and while nearly 346,000 Brooklyn residents cast their ballots during early voting, many voters are still expected to head to the polls today. Officials are urging all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and reminding New Yorkers that safety is the city’s top priority.

Polls are open until 9 p.m. today. Residents are reminded to vote at their designated polling location. If you are voting by mail or absentee ballot, those ballots must be submitted by the end of the day as well.

Mayor Eric Adams announced that there will be two police officers at each voting site, and additional personnel will be deployed if needed.

If you experience any problems at the polls or have questions about your ballot, voters can reach the Board of Elections at 866-868-3692.

If you find yourself the victim of voter intimidation, deception, or obstruction, you can call the New York State Attorney General’s office Election Protection Hotline at 866-390-2992.

The Board of Elections is also encouraging voters to review a sample ballot online before heading to the polls, as the candidates and issues on the ballot may vary depending on your district.

With polls set to close at 9 p.m., the Board of Elections reassures voters that as long as they are in line by the cutoff time, they will still be allowed to cast their vote.
