A Manalapan woman was targeted in a carjacking while waiting for roadside assistance Wednesday morning.
Police say around 9 a.m., a woman with a flat tire was waiting for a tow from AAA at the Walgreens on Gordons Corner Road in Englishtown.
While she was waiting, police say three suspects approached her and forced her out of the vehicle. She ran away unharmed and immediately called the police.
According to authorities, the three thieves took off in her 2015 Mazda 3 and drove around half a mile east on Gordons Corner Road before they realized the car had a flat.
They then pulled into the Congregation Sons of Israel parking lot at 33 Gordons Corner Road, where they were shortly apprehended by police.
The suspects have been identified as Hazma Williams, Rayj Durant, and Tyler Lares. All three were charged with first degree carjacking and related crimes. They are currently in Monmouth County jail awaiting detention hearings.
