5h agoPolice say a West Milford resident is accused of illegally burning debris in their backyard and sparking a large brush fire.
Fire crews were called to Lakeside Road just after noon Saturday for a reported brush fire. They spotted a large area burning up the mountain.
The flames quickly spread to three other structures. Two homes were damaged, including one that partially collapsed.
The fire also engulfed Kushaqua Trail.
Special equipment had to be trucked in to get control of the brush fire.
Three firefighters were injured.
