A Tinton Falls man has been accused of sticking his cellphone beneath a bathroom stall to film another man at the Willowbrook mall in Wayne.
Police say officers responded to the scene at the JCPenney store around 1:28 p.m. on Jan. 10.
The victim told police that he witnessed Richard Jones-Johnson reach under the front door of the stall with a cellphone.
The victim said he could see the camera was activated and made noise to alert the suspect to his presence.
The phone allegedly moved away, only to then reappear under the dividing wall of the stall next door shortly after.
Police say the victim confronted the suspect and struck him. Jones-Johnson said he was sorry, and the victim demanded he delete the video.
The suspect deleted the video in front of him, according to authorities.
Officers questioning the suspect say he claimed he had mistakenly activated his cellphone camera while trying to reach for a vape he dropped in the bathroom.
Police say he was then arrested and charged with invasion of privacy.
