Police: Student’s threat to teacher leads to school lockdown in Piscataway
Piscataway High School was briefly put into lockdown on Friday after a student allegedly threatened a teacher.
Police say that the 19-year-old student threatened the teacher while speaking Spanish. The student either said that they had a gun or would go get a gun, they say. A school security officer heard the altercation and initiated the lockdown.
The school was put into lockdown for around 45 minutes while the student was taken into custody. The student was searched and no weapons were found.
School officials said in a statement to parents that "students and staff responded perfectly and took all the necessary precautions and we are proud of the way our students responded."
The student was charged with creating a false public alarm. The student’s name was not immediately available.
