Police: Spilled wine triggered melee at Rumson restaurant; Florida man arrested

A Florida native is facing charges, accused of lunging at someone with a steak knife in a Rumson restaurant.
Police responded on Aug. 22 to the Red Horse along Ridge Road after a patron called 911 with a report of “a man that pulled a knife.”
David Gulley, 75, of Palm Beach Shores, was taken into custody after authorities witnesses him punching the manager.
Police say Gulley had brandished a steak knife prior to their arrival and lunged at the manager after the two argued over wine being spilled on the victim’s wife.
The victim was cut on the finger and refused medical attention.
Chef David Burke, the owner of Red Horse, praised his manager and staff on how they handled the situation.
Gulley is charged with aggravated and simple assault, possession of a weapon, disorderly conduct and terroristic threat.
