Police: Skydiver killed in Monroe Township
Police say a skydiver was found dead in Monroe Township Sunday afternoon.
Reports say the body of a man was found with a backup parachute. His identity has yet to be released.
Witnesses say they called 911 after finding the man. Police say they were looking for another parachute.
Skydive Cross Keys, out of Williamstown, told local news outlets that the skydiver was very experienced and had jumped over 1,000 times.
They also say the man's parachute was deployed upon exiting the airplane.
Witnesses say they heard a loud thud and thought a car hit something.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office is working with local police on the investigation.
