Police seek person who crashed stolen car into Newark church
Authorities are searching for a person who crashed a stolen car Sunday into a church in Newark.
Authorities said that around 3:17 p.m., a stolen Nissan Altima struck the Community of Chapel Ministries on Hawthorne Avenue. Nine people were inside the church at the time. Officials said two were taken to Beth Israel Hospital for evaluation and released.
The driver of the stolen car fled prior to the arrival of police and firefighters and no description of the individual was provided.
An investigation into the incident continues.
