Police are trying to figure out Monday who would want an 81-year-old grandmother dead.
Police say Ana Rodriguez was found dead Saturday at her Wakefield home on Monticello Avenue. They say there were no signs of a struggle or forced entry but that she did have multiple stab wounds. Relatives say they became concerned when Rodriguez missed an appointment and didn't return phone calls. They had neighbors go check on her only to learn the horrible news.
Neighbors describe Rodriguez as a warm and caring woman who went each day to visit her husband in a Bronx nursing home. Family members say they don't believe it was a robbery because no money or credit cards were taken. They say what happened to Rodriguez may be the result of a vendetta.
