Police: Plainfield man killed in hit-and-run crash in Bridgewater

The Bridgewater Police Department and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a 28-year-old Plainfield man.

The Bridgewater Police Department and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a 28-year-old Plainfield man.
Authorities say that the crash happened just after 2 a.m. Thursday. The victim was identified as Robert Cepeda.
Officials say that Cepeda has just gotten off a New Jersey Transit bus at the designated bus stop on Route 28. Cepeda was crossing the intersection on his way to a convenience store when he was struck by a brown or red tractor truck cab without its trailer attached.
Police say that the driver slowed down after the impact, but failed to stop and continued on to Interstate 287 going southbound.
Cepeda was pronounced dead at the scene.
