County police say three people are dead after an early morning accident on the Cross County Parkway.
They say a vehicle lost control in the eastbound lanes of the parkway just before 2:30 a.m. in Mount Vernon. The crash occurred between exits 9 and 10.
Authorities say a 16-year-old female passenger was found inside the vehicle. The bodies of two other passengers, a 22-year-old male and a 24-year-old male, were found outside of the vehicle.
Officials say the three passengers and the driver are believed to be Bronx residents. Their identities are being withheld pending the notification of their families.
The 21-year-old driver survived and was taken to Westchester Medical Center. His injuries are not considered serious.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, including whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved.
Evidence taken from the scene included a coffee thermos and red Solo Cups.
The Cross County Parkway closed eastbound between the southbound Hutchinson River Parkway and New Rochelle Road, but has since reopened.
