Police: Patient with rifle in bed prompts reports of active shooter

The all clear has been given in Brick Township following reports of an active shooter.
Police were called around 10:30 a.m. to a house on Sprucewood Avenue, near Chambers Bridge Road, for a report of an armed subject inside the home.
A home health aide told police when she arrived at her patient's house, he was in bed with a rifle.
Police made contact with the homeowner and placed him into protective custody, where he was taken to Ocean Medical Center for an evaluation.
Police removed at least one loaded weapon from the home.
No charges are being filed at this time.
No injuries were reported.
Two schools were placed on lockdown while police tried to make contact with him.
There is no threat to the public.
