Police say that an out-of-control driver slammed into a Essex County Target store, leaving a large hole.
The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Target on Little Falls Road in Fairfield.
The impact left a large hole in the side of the building. Customers say that the freezers inside the store shook when the car struck the wall.
Police say that the driver of the white BMW that struck the business had just pulled out from the nearby Dunkin’ Donuts and sped across the street before crashing. They believe that the driver was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crash.
No one inside the store was hurt.
Information about the driver was not immediately made available.
Editor's Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the crash happened in Fair Lawn, Bergen County.
