Police in Camden County say the man seen in a video swiping a sacred statue from inside a Catholic church in Gibbsboro has been arrested -- and the statue has been located.
Monsignor Louis Marucci says the suspect still had the statue in his possession when police apprehended him earlier today.
The statue is now en-route to St. Andrew the Apostle church and will be the centerpiece of a pre-planned day of 2,000 hail Mary prayers Thursday.
The pastor says it will be a “magnificent celebration.”
The statue was purchased for $4,000 in Portugal in 2016. It commemorates a reported appearance of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal in 1917.
