A man in Newark claims that he was robbed in his own home by another man that he met on a dating app, according to the police.
Newark police say that the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. on May 18. They say that the victim invited the suspect to his Shepherd Avenue home. They say that the suspect came inside, but then quickly left. The suspect then returned with two other men. Police say that the three men then assaulted and robbed the victim, taking his wallet and other personal property.
Police say that the suspect is described as a Black man who is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He has a thin build, a dark complexion and a slight beard.
People who live in the neighborhood say that they are concerned because the suspects could be targeting other people.
“This is where a police bulletin should go out to the community. This incident just heightens the senses of anybody. We should be on alert for things that are going on,” says neighbor Donna Jackson.
