Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Sunday night in Asbury Park outside the West Side Community Center.
Twenty-one-year-old Jakeema Kelly was gunned down near the entrance of the community center at about 9:30. The victim's mother told News 12 New Jersey that her son was assassinated in a drive-by shooting. In November, 22-year-old Jerry Jules was shot and killed just feet away from the scene of Kelly's murder.
While police continue to investigate, those who knew the victim have set up a makeshift memorial across the street from the center. Representatives of the Asbury Park Police Department and Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office did not return calls for comment.
