Union County authorities have identified the victim of a shooting at a popular Plainfield park.
Authorities say the body of Wykil Sherrod Jr., 30, was found near a picnic table in Green Brook Park Wednesday.
The park was closed to the public for most of Wednesday while investigators worked on the scene. The park is a popular destination for Union County residents.
The medical examiner determined that Sherrod died from a gunshot wound.
The circumstances that led to the shooting are unknown.
