Police: Excavator part falls on man, kills him in Brooklyn

A man was killed in an industrial accident on Java Street in Brooklyn Monday.

A man was killed in an industrial accident on Java Street in Brooklyn Monday.
The 46-year-old male worker was attempting to attach a piece of equipment to an excavator near 1 Java St. around 9 a.m. when the equipment failed, and the attachment fell and crushed the worker. The equipment weighed an estimated 2,000 pounds.
The victim suffered severe body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the NYPD. He was wearing his protective equipment at the time.
The Department of Buildings said it will issue a full stop work order for this site and all other sites from this contractor, and that no past violations have been issued at the site of the incident. 
News 12 reached out to the contractor multiple times for a statement and has not heard back.
