A dog stolen off a front porch in Bayonne earlier this week is now safe and back home with its owners. The five people accused of stealing him are reportedly still on the loose.
Nick Scarabaggio says that he could not be happier to have his Jack Russell terrier Rocco back home.
The dog was stolen Monday evening from his home along Avenue E. Police say that someone walked up the front steps of the home, unhooked Rocco’s leash and walked off with the dog. Police say there are as many as five people involved. All were seen aboard a Hudson Bergen Light Rail train headed to Hoboken before getting on a PATH train for Manhattan. They all seemed to be young – in their teens or 20s.
Rocco was found Thursday evening in Manhattan. Police could not confirm if any of the five suspects were in custody.
“I’m ecstatic, I’ve gone through the peaks and valleys of all the emotions you could think of. It’s just great to have my dog back in loving hands and the rest of my family will feel the same way,” says Scarabaggio.
Scarabaggio says that Rocco will be having steak from the grill for dinner.
Anyone who might have any information about the theft is urged to call Bayonne police at 1-877-900-TIPS (8477).
