Police: Convict escapes halfway house in Mount Laurel

A convicted attempted murderer is on the loose after escaping from a halfway house in Burlington County.
Officials say Edward Berbon was working at a halfway house in Mount Laurel when he escaped.
Berbon was in the custody of the New Jersey Department of Corrections.
He has been in prison since 2005 and was scheduled to be released in February.
Anyone who has any information about Berbon’s whereabouts should call the New Jersey Department of Corrections Special Investigation Unit – Fugitive Unit at 1-800-523-3829.
Anyone who might see Berbon in person should immediately call 911.
