Police: Car wash worker pinned between 2 vehicles, seriously injured
Authorities say a car wash worker was seriously injured when she became pinned between two vehicles.
The accident occurred Sunday afternoon at the Garden State Car Wash in Middletown.
Authorities say a car leaving the wash bay struck the back of a vehicle that was parked outside. The woman was pinned between the two cars when they collided. Car wash owner Frank DeLucca tells News 12 New Jersey that he believes that the driver was distracted at the time of the crash.
Middletown police say they were on scene within minutes and that Sgt. Patricia Colangelo placed a tourniquet on the woman's leg. They say that this most likely saved her life.
The victim was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and underwent surgery.
The driver of the car fully cooperated with police. The entire incident was also captured on surveillance video. The names of the victim and driver have not been released by police.
