Police announced the arrest of a 21-year-old man Wednesday in relation to the abduction and sexual assault of an Orthodox woman in Lakewood.
According to police, Brandon Fritz abducted the 20-year-old Orthodox victim from a parking lot off Route 9 in May. She had just finished working out at the Trim-Gym Fitness Center and was walking to her car when she was abducted. Police say Fritz returned her to the lot early the following morning.
Prosecutors say Fritz was arrested Tuesday in Old Bridge, where he was working on a house for a sprinkler company. According to police, Fritz returned to the home following the project and attempted to rob the residence. Investigators say he attempted to sexually assault a 48-year-old woman when she returned home and interrupted the robbery. However, police say he was scared off for unknown reasons.
Police say some details of the Old Bridge assault resembled the Lakewood abduction, which prompted the Old Bridge Police Department to contact the Lakewood Police Department. Related Information
