Police arrest 2nd person wanted in dumping of woman’s body on Rt. 22
The second person wanted in the dumping of a woman’s body earlier this month along Route 22 in Branchburg Township has been arrested, officials said.
Detectives located and arrested Nicole Barbour, 26, of Ringwood, Wednesday morning at the Red Carpet Inn in New Brunswick, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.
Barbour is accused of helping get rid of the body of 29-year-old Ashley Castro, of Hopatcong.
David DeSantos, 32, of Henryville, Pennsylvania, is also facing charges in connection with the crime. He was arrested on April 7 and charged with disturbing human remains.
Officials said in the early morning hours of March 29, DeSantos and Barbour moved Castro’s body from a Route 22 motel to a center median on Route 22 and hid her body among trees and bushes. Castro’s body was not discovered until April 5. How Castro died is still under investigation, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Barbour is charged with disturbing human remains. She was lodged in the Somerset County Jail, pending a detention hearing.
