Authorities in Atlantic County are investigating reports of antisemitic flyers distributed around Brigantine.
“I briefly looked at it. I thought it was ridiculous,” says Brigantine resident Michael Brindisi.
The flyers were inside plastic baggies weighed down with small kernels.
Mayor Vince Sera says that he wants the community to know that this incident is not being taken lightly.
“Behavior like this is completely unacceptable and won’t be tolerated. Our police department is doing a full investigation,” the mayor says. “One of the things we’re really harping on right now is Ring and security systems, that someone has to have some type of video.”
A spokesperson for the Brigantine Police Department said in a statement, “The literature does not contain any threats, but it is consistent with anti-Semitic flyers that news outlets have reported as having been distributed in similar manners throughout the United States in recent weeks. It appears that these flyers are being randomly distributed publicly and are not targeting any specific residences or businesses.”
Anyone with any information about the flyers or video of whoever dropped them off is asked to contact the police at 609-266-7414.
