Police: 18-year-old Bloomfield man shot in Montclair

Authorities say officers were called to Maple and Woodland avenues for reports of gunshots just before 10 p.m. Monday.

An 18-year-old man from Bloomfield was shot in Montclair Monday night, according to the Montclair Police Department.

Authorities say officers were called to Maple and Woodland avenues for reports of gunshots just before 10 p.m. The responding officer saw two men running toward an awaiting car parked on Woodland Avenue. Police pulled this car over and found an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. Two other people were also in the car and were not hurt.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark and was listed in stable condition.

Police say several shell casings were found near the scene.

No arrests have been made. Information about a suspect was not available.
