“Play College Football!” Those were the words from President Donald Trump on Twitter ahead of decisions by the Big Ten and Pac 12 to cancel fall football.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany explained the tweet further, saying, “A lot of these college athletes work their whole lives to get four years, sometimes they're redshirted an extra year if they're lucky. They work their whole lives for this moment, and he'd like to see them have a chance to live out their dreams."
The entire Rutgers football team was under quarantine just over two weeks ago after 28 players tested positive for COVID-19, along with eight staffers. The positive tests were linked to a party on campus. Other Big Ten schools dealt with similar incidents.
