Plans for the new Yankee Stadium are making their way to the top of city government.
Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. recently approved the plan. Carrion says the stadium will create jobs. However, some business owners are opposed to the plan because they say they would have to move. Several people also say a new stadium will take away parkland currently used by hundreds of Bronx residents. But Carrion says parkland will be preserved and created.
The Department of Planning is reviewing the stadium plans. They have to make their decision by February. After the review it moves to the City Council and then to the mayor.
