There are concerns about school violence in Plainfield Thursday after a high school student was accused of assaulting a teacher.
Police say the incident occurred Friday afternoon when a 15-year-old student and his friend entered a math class in Plainfield High School, where they didn?t belong. According to police, the student kicked and punched a teacher after that teacher asked the two to leave.
Education officials say school violence is getting out of hand and it is not just a problem in the Plainfield district. The district superintendent feels that the Internet is partly to blame with video Web sites such as YouTube and MySpace. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old student was arrested and faces felony assault charges. The student has also been suspended from school and may be expelled.
