The ultimate pizza showdown is happening this weekend in New Jersey. Pizza Bowl 5 kicks off tomorrow afternoon, and it's for a good cause as well. Yes, New Jersey's Lauren will be judging the best pizza and meatballs in the garden state this morning. She's had reeds and Carl said with a preview, not a bad gig, Lauren. Not bad at all. Everyone's a winner today. We're having so much pizza. It is Pizza Friday here on News 12, and look at this huge group that I have here today. Pizza Bowl 5, all to support Tunnel to Towers, huge organization, huge event going on, and such a great support, guy. I want to bring you in the organizer of this. I mean, you must feel good. 5th year, yeah, it is the 5th year. Jersey pizza joints, Jersey sandwich joints are two public Facebook groups with about 230,000 followers. Uh, we celebrate Jersey pizza and meatballs, so we do uh voting for, uh, about a month, and the top four vote getters in North Central and South get invited to bake off live, and we do that to have a celebration and also to benefit tunnels, the towers. Uh, to do great work for our first responders and our catastrophically injured military and let's meet some of our military here. We have Chi from the army here. I mean, what do you want to say this morning? Well, uh, we're here to salute the great work that Jersey Pizza Joints does. New Jersey is home to the greatest pizza in the world, the greatest servicemen in the world. Yeah, we thank them for their service, so thank you. So we're proud to contribute in a humble way and salute the wonderful work Jersey. A joints. Amazing. New Jersey native. You guys are New Jersey natives, brothers. Yes, yes, yes, very happy to be here. I just want to thank everyone for having us and thank you, New Jersey for honoring us as one of their own. Awesome, thank you. New New Jersey's Lauren will be judging the best pizza and meatballs in the Garden State this morning. She's rights and that with the preview. So Lauren, what are you looking for when it comes to a winning pizza pie. You know, everyone can say the crust, the cheese, but you know what it is for me. I just want to bite into it and be like, wow, that tastes like a high school football game, you know what I mean? When you go after, that's what I want to bring more. I want to bring back nostalgia. Here's Angelo. That's what you want to do, right? This is what. Does best. Yeah, this is the whole thing. You want to just go back to the roots, exactly, and you're doing it right in a food truck. Exactly. Angelo's finest. That is exactly it. So what's your role in this pizza bow situation? I'm kind of like, have you ever seen the movie when they say to the guy, We're going to go out. We're going to hurt some people, and he says, Well, whose car are you taking? That's what we do. We do a support role for all these warriors that raise money for a terrific cause. Angela's Finance is the official pizza truck for Pizza bowl. They're going to produce over 100 pizzas to make sure that we have enough food throughout the day. Amazing and I know Rich wants to slice so let's get rich slice. Look at this. That is that's a rich right there. Angelo, let's make some pizza pizza. So the first thing you're going to do is you're gonna put your sauce on the pizza. So that's gonna be you, OK, OK, you're going to just swirl this around and get all the sauce out of the middle. All right, OK, here we go. See, look at this. I could judge and I can make pizza too. We make pizza with my grandparents and we do it in the backyard in the oven, so I feel like I'm perfect for this. That's the fun way to do it and that's. Talking about pizza brings everyone together exactly right. There's no, it's not a competition, not at all, you know. I don't look at anybody. I'm gonna finish off as competitors. They're, they're, you know, they're fellows. It's a fellowship. Yeah, exactly, and it's, it's just a great community. Uh, everybody's giving. Now we're gonna put some oregano. I like oregano oregano. You don't just throw it on, OK, smell it now. I crush it up. Oh, even more, yeah, that's come out. Yeah, I'm giving you gold here. Yeah, I'm taking that to Pizza Friday. OK, then we're gonna throw some grated cheese on and make sure you spread it out good, and now we're gonna throw some cheese. Now we always want to go right up to the edge. You want to help? Go ahead, yeah, you stick your hands in this. That's right. There we go and you know it's only a pizza, it's only a pizza and pizza is always the answer, guys, always the answer. We're going to keep making more pizza out at Carlsad guys, Super Bowl, pizza bowl's not the Super Bowl. It's the pizza bowl 5 Jersey.

Yeah. We are, we got the meatballing here, Johnny Meatballs. Hello. So what makes your meatballs so good? Well, it's a good meat quality product, you know, we use love farms over here in Jersey, and we've been using them since we started, and, uh, it's a grandma's recipe that came here from Sicily back in the day, 1950, and, uh, we've been using the same stuff and the same techniques since, uh. 1949, 1950. That's the best. Don't ever change anything. We don't, we don't. We just keep going forward. This is our award-winning meatball sandwich. And uh it's great to see you guys today and may may the next crown go to the guy tomorrow night at Red's and we'll see if it's you or not, right? Well, I'm not in. I'm gonna be the final judge this year. Oh, perfect. All right. And then, uh, that's it. What what do you got in the oven? I got right now I got another meatball pump coming right out. This is, like I said, our award winning, and we got some meatballs that we just rolled out. Which they're gonna take a couple of minutes to be cooking and uh hopefully we crown the guy because I'm a 3 Peter and I'm gonna hand that trophy over to the next guy. May it be the best meatball in Jersey tomorrow night at Red's tavern. We'll give you guys one last look at those trophies because we got to stretch the mutts here. We have Vinnie mutts. Say it with me, everybody. Vinnie mutts, I say la mozzarella. There you go. OK, so you are the defending champ for the pizza here. Yes, and what makes your pizza so great? Obviously you got to use the mutts, mozzarella. That's it. You got to make the fresh mutts, the only way to do it. That's amazing. And are we gonna be able to stretch it or? Yeah, you ready? Let's do it. There you go, mama. You gonna do this? Oh, I'm gonna do it. Yeah, come on, that spoon. All right, let's go. Go right up. Go right up. Yeah, keep pulling pulling, pulling. It stopped. Yeah, keep going. Look, uh. We're having fun here. I mean, Guy, this is an amazing event. I'm so excited to be a part of it. Yeah, it's really going to be crazy. We've got over 450 people, over 250 pizzas, almost a couple 1000 meatballs, and a lot of food and entertainment. It's a Goodfellas reunion and it's for Tunnels and Towers Foundation.
