Pieces of a FedEx jet fell out of the sky and into a New Jersey neighborhood Tuesday.
A family from Nutley found a chunk of the aircraft on their front lawn, just feet from their house. Although no one was hurt as a result of the incident, many residents say they're fortunate the pieces didn't smash into a home. Authorities say the FedEx DC-10 plane left Newark Liberty Airport overnight.
Federal Express and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the aircraft reached its destination of Oakland, California safely. FAA investigators say mechanics may not have secured the engine cover properly before takeoff.
