A lockdown was put in place for hours Wednesday morning at Phillipsburg High School.
The lockdown followed a 911 call that claimed multiple students were shot on school grounds, according to Clinton Township police.
Police from surrounding towns responded and the supposed incident was confirmed to be a hoax, according to officials. Police say the lockdown was later lifted.
Phillipsburg Police Department and surrounding agencies are investigating. Officials say there is currently no credible threat to the public.
This comes days after a former student shot through the doors of a Christian elementary school in Nashville and killed three children and three adults.
