Pennsylvania is temporarily halting school sports and other extracurricular activities.

It's also ordering gyms, theaters and casinos to close and banning indoor dining at restaurants as state officials respond to the worsening pandemic with new restrictions.

Gov. Tom Wolf announced the new restrictions Thursday after weeks of exploding case numbers and sharply rising hospitalizations and deaths.

Wolf tested positive for the virus earlier this week but said he wasn’t experiencing symptoms.
