If you're looking for a workout partner to get you motivated in the new year, Oscar is ready to keep you company.
A pit bull-terrier mix, Oscar was lost before arriving at the Associated Humane Societies Newark shelter. Volunteers describe him as affectionate, athletic, playful, loyal and funny. The 3-year-old pup loves to be around people and workers say he also seems to be dog-friendly. They believe he would "thrive in a home with older or sturdy kids."
"Oscar was meant to be a family dog," AHS Newark said in their description of Oscar on the organization's website.
In addition to loving treats, Oscar is described as being social and smart. Trainers who have worked him when he arrived at AHS Newark say he passed his evaluations with flying colors.
"His hobbies include running on the indoor treadmill (he tops 13mph), cuddling up with volunteers and playing with toys. He's not one to turn down a treat at all," AHS Social Media Manager Olivia Gonzalez said.
Oscar is up-to-date on his vaccinations and will be neutered upon adoption.
Anyone interested in meeting Oscar can fill out an application in person at AHS in Newark or go to
ahscares.org/adopt. The shelter asks that anyone who applies online also meets with this friendly pup in prson.
