Despite having a rough time in the care of previous owners that included living in a storage shed, Banana is sweet, social and well-behaved, according to volunteers at NorthStar Pet Rescue.
Tammy Probst of NorthStar says Banana previously lived with a woman who kept her crated around the clock before losing her home and being forced to live in a storage shed with no running water. Realizing she couldn't take care of Banana, the owner eventually agreed to surrender the dog to NorthStar.
"Unfortunately, Banana left behind two other dogs and a cat that the original owner was unwilling to surrender," Probst said. "We are happy that Banana was able to leave that home behind but sad that the other animals with the owner are still living in a bad situation."
A miniature pinscher/terrier short-haired dog weighing about 20 pounds, Banana is house- and crate-trained but enjoys going for walks and does well on a leash. Shes also described by volunteers and fosters as a good listener who loves to cuddle. NorthStar says Banana is also good around cats and other dogs.
Anyone interested in meeting and possibly giving Banana a "furever" home, can contact NorthStar Pet Rescue and fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org.
