Reporting quality-of-life issues in Paterson should be even simpler now, with the help of a phone app called Paterson Plus.
The city is pushing for an increase in usage of the app, which is getting an upgrade.
Quality-of-life issues around the city, like bulk trash that’s been sitting on a sidewalk too long or potholes that may be covering the street, are being regularly reported through the app.
Residents can all choose among the lengthy list of categories being offered, from animal control to flooding.
Residents can send along a photo and a message with their phone and get some relief or at least a response within 24 to 72 hours.
The city is making improvements to make the app easier to use, as well as to improve real-time tracking and reporting of work being done.
“It’s about communicating with our constituents and making sure that the people that put us in these positions know that we are listening,” said Mayor Andre Sayegh.
The city has been getting 20 requests per day through the app.
The city also wants people to use it to ask for information about city programs, as well as to pay bills online.
