Police: Paterson woman charged with assault bites police officer

Police say Fadwa Alchamas, 21, threatened and assaulted multiple officers during processing.

Clifton police say a woman from Paterson was arrested after biting a police officer and assaulting several officers during her arrest.

According to police, 21-year-old Fadwa Alchamas lied about her identify during a traffic stop. When officers learned her true identity, they then found out she was wanted in Somerset County.

Alchamas was arrested and taken to Clifton police headquarters. During processing, police say she threatened and assaulted multiple officers. Two officers were hospitalized with minor injuries. One of the injured officers was bitten by Alchamas.

Alchamas was charged with making terroristic threats, obstruction of the administration law, hindering apprehension and several counts of aggravated assault.

Police say a 34-year-old man from Clifton, who was also in the car with Alchamas, was released with a summons.
