A celebration was held in Paterson on Tuesday to acknowledge the contributions of its senior citizen residents.
The hall inside the Paterson Senior Service Center – also known as Riverside Vets – hosted the seniors for an annual party. There was dancing, games and giveaways. Lunch was also served to the more than 30 people who came out.
The celebration is in honor of Older Americans Month, which recognizes the contributions of seniors and showcases the commitment the city has to serving older adults.
"A lot of the seniors don't have people to back them, so it's good that we're supporting the seniors that don't have family,” says Marguerite Lombardi, of the Council of Aging.
Organizers say the celebration has been taking place for the last couple of years in Passaic County.
