An overturned dump truck caused major traffic backups during the Tuesday evening commute on Route 46 in Little Falls.
Little Falls police say that a dump truck experienced a mechanical failure and rolled onto its side, spilling its load all over Route 46 west near Browertown Road. The truck crashed through a guard rail and knocked over a utility pole, according to police.
Several lanes on Route 46 west are closed for a time while crews mad repairs and cleaned up the spill.
As of 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, the right lane was still closed in the area while electrical repairs were made. Those repairs were expected to be completed by Wednesday’s morning commute.
The driver of the truck was not seriously injured but was taken to the hospital.
