(05/08/06) JERSEY CITY ? Residents in Jersey City awoke Monday morning to find parts of their neighborhood covered in graffiti.
The vandals struck parts of the city?s Greenville section, on Greenville and Linden avenues and Scott Street. The spray-painted phrases, such as D-Rock and CB-4, seemed cryptic to residents. However, police say they are the telltale signs of gang activity. According to police, D-Rock stands for the Dwight Street Gang and CB-4 translates to Crazy for Life.
Investigators say the gangs were attempting to disrespect each other, and they were not targeting homeowners. A crew from the Jersey City Incinerator Authority is cleaning up the graffiti. Police have not yet arrested anyone in relation to the incident.
