An out-of-control car slammed into two homes in Edison Friday, displacing at least one family from their destroyed home.Edison police have charged 22-year-old Jerome Waites of Rahway with reckless driving and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Elaine Tweeds and her family were not home when Waites? speeding car lost control, skidded across her lawn, clipped her garage and ended up on fire in the home next door on Evergreen Avenue.The Deamus family was lucky to get out of their house alive. They are staying in a hotel because their home is now considered unlivable. Residents say this is not the first accident on Wintergreen Avenue. They say they're sick of reckless drivers and are demanding speed bumps be installed.Waites was hurt in the accident but was treated and released.
