That new span of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, which was just unveiled Friday, did not open this morning.
Officials reportedly say the reason is that they believe the structure right next to the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, the old Tappan Zee, is unstable and in danger of collapsing onto the new span.
It's important to note, there of course is no traffic on the Old Tappan Zee.
Authorities also reportedly closing the channel on the Hudson River under the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, keeping boats away from the area.
Inspectors are expected to be on hand evaluating the situation.
