More than half the people celebrating this Valentine's Day will buy chocolates according to the National Retail Federation, and that's exactly where we find News 12 New Jersey's Lauren due this morning at a chocolate and pastry shop in Hamilton. Lilla Vanilla Shop. Lauren, what are you making now? It's looking pretty good there. Look at these. These are the supreme croissants rolls. Let's bring in Lily, the owner and the pastry chef here. OK, so let's do it. What exactly are these? It's very complex. So it's a famous croissant rolls around. and they have a feeling inside which we can do right now. They became famous because of the sun bakery in New York a long time ago, uh, made them virals, so we start to make them a couple of years ago, but nobody knew about us until, um, there's a blogger Josh. Josh's food and stuff and stuff. He came here last January. He posted a video about our supreme croissants. Yeah, it's it's a little clumsy. Uh, he posted a video about us and we became viral about them because nobody in Georges except us, maybe a couple more places making these croissants. So to keep interest. We change the flavors every week. We sell them only Fridays and Saturdays. We change flavors every week. We're doing usually 4 flavors. You can pre order in one mystery flavor for Wins, so to keep you interested. And so what flavors are these? So today we have strawberry with chocolate ganache as a chocolate dipped strawberry idea for Valentine's Day. Um, we have tiramisu, we have Dubai choco filling as well, and Boston cream pie and the mystery flavor. I'm going to come in and see that. How important is social media and keeping up with all these viral trends? That guy Josh, he literally saved the business during the crisis and economically tough situation. He came here and he just did one video and we got Famous in all New Jerseys, so I think it's like plus 70% of sales since he came here and did us famous, and I will be grateful for the rest of my life for what he did. He's a wonderful person and now we're famous for the supreme rules. I know we can all enjoy them. Look at all these. We're hanging out in Hambleton today, Lauren D.

News 12 New Jersey's Lauren Du live this morning at Lilla Vanilla Cake Shop in Hamilton. Lauren telling us more about what, uh, glazing a cake means, and are you gonna show us how to glaze a cake, Lauren? Lily is gonna do it because I'm not gonna do it. I don't want to mess it up like how perfect this is. So Lily, the owner and pastry chef here, and by the way you usually get here typically this early, especially on Valentine's Day, right? We're just crashing your party a little bit and we appreciate it we like spending Valentine's Day with you, so let's do it. OK, here we go. So it's a mirror glaze. It's a very European style, modern desserts. Mose cakes that has to be frozen by technology. So be able to pour a glaze, so it's set and then defrost in the fridge for a few hours and then it's ready to go, very delicate and delicious dessert. And I love how you say the European technique, but these are American sized, right? yeah. And gluten free too, they're all gluten free and you will never taste the difference. I can guarantee. Amazing and I could tell everyone at home if you're like me, you're like, no, there's so much waste, but you're saying no, no, there's no waste. That's why there's plastic wrap and then after we collect the cakes in the trays, we collect all the glaze and pour it back in the cup, keep in the fridge, and then just melt it again and all over again. I love it. And you see these videos all the time going viral, and I always wonder what's up with everything on the bottom. And so these are your #1 sellers. These are popular. Yes, it's a mango passion fruit mousse cakes. It's #1 seller. They have different sizes bigger, smaller, personal size, and Valentine's size for 2 and prices over the years because you've been here for 4, you see them like. Are they growing because of the cost of goods? Yeah, but we're trying to keep it almost the same. We just freeze it a little bit over the years, so I'm trying to keep it the same. Awesome. All right, so how much longer do we have to let this a little bit longer? Should we do it? We're gonna do, should we attempt the transfer? We're gonna a little, little early. Oh look at that. And so what exactly is in the glaze? So it's a white chocolate glucose syrup. It's uh sugar and a little bit of food coloring. And fish gelatin, so we don't do any beef or pork. It's just a fish gelatin so everybody can eat unless you're vegan. All right, here we go. Look at that. Perfect. It's ready for you, Nick and Sima and Mike. Happy Valentine's Day. Lily, trust me with the chocolate. All right, Lily, so what are these? These are huge. I can't believe these are cookies. So this is a new trend. It's New York City cookies. It's a jumbo cookie with the filling inside. We call them Bikini Killer. Bikini Killer, what? So it's a huge cookie and they all have a feeling. So this one is a special edition for Valentine's Day. It's a chocolate chip cookie with a raspberry jam inside, classic chocolate, classic. This is so much fun. These are beautiful. Thank you. I know I'm having so much fun. Thank you for trusting me in this, but uh I, I let you do the love. I'm like, I don't think I could do that one. OK, so we'll move on to the strawberries. Yeah, this is stringles for you. OK, so we do the same thing. And how, uh, how busy are you with these strawberries for today? Uh, well, we were doing yesterday all day long and we're gonna keep doing that today. It's one of the best sellers. And do you have any secret for the strawberries? The best secret is, uh, good chocolate. We use 61% dark chocolate. OK, all right. These are beautiful. I'm gonna have you do the love because you know they're cute. You know why? Because Rich wants a cookie. This is for Rich right here. He's gonna get a cookie. Look at that. And I am gonna take this chocolate covered strawberry. Look at this, and your love looks amazing too. And what, what flavor is this again? So this one has a mango passion fruits again, number one seller. It's a mango passion fruit mousse, passion fruit cream, and vanilla cake. It's also gluten free and like again, you will never taste the difference. It's the best seller. And you know what? You take a bite of this chocolate covered strawberry, the chocolate does not crack. So what's your favorite part about working with your mom? Honestly eating stuff and and helping her like make some desserts and stuff, you know, Emma, me too. That's my favorite part about being here is eating the chocolate covered strawberries and you're, you're a big role in in the social media. How do you keep up with all these trends? Um, I don't know I just. Do you do it, yeah, and your mom is cool with doing all the trends. What's been very cool, Mom. Lily, that's awesome. I'd say the social social media and like helping everyone do stuff like for example cupcakes, that's my most favorite part to like do here because like you get to decorate it, you get to do the icing and it's really fun. All right, this is your day. This is your holiday. Are you ready for it? Oh yeah, that's one of the biggest holidays of the year, the Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. So we have high hopes to be sold out today and well, what can I? So hurry up, yes, and this is the Dubai chocolate. Yes, it's a viral one here we go. All about that crack. So what what is it? I've never had this before and I've been waiting for this moment all morning. So it's a pistachio paste, the one, and toasted crunch and of course our dark chocolate. Amazing. OK, I'm gonna eat this and you explain everything on the table. It's all about the crunch too to hear it you're chewing. So we have the different petitos, which is European mousse cake. So it has a moussevila and cake. We have a different flavors, no heart shape and love. We have Ferreroche, which is a bigger version of a famous bonbon. We have Duba chocolate bars, chocolate covered strawberries, of course, heart shaped cakes, and treats for kids for Valentine's as well. And of course supreme croissant rolls and. cookies and you went viral for the Dubai chocolate for these croissants. Price of eggs high. Price of chocolate high. How are you expecting this Valentine's Day to be? I hope it's going to cover all the expenses and rent, which is so expensive as well, and the eggs price is just sit and cry. It's just nonsense, but we don't have a choice. We have to pull it together and go. you're making us happy with all this truck this morning. Thank you so much. Yeah, we didn't send a robot for some chocolate. We sent News 12 New Jersey's Lauren do. She's at a chocolate and pastry shop this morning in Hamilton Lilla Vanilla cake shop. Good morning, Lauren. You're so much better than a robot. Yeah, thank you, Nick. I appreciate that. A lot of people want to be here probably. Here's Lily, the owner and pastry chef here. Now we're gonna do chocolate covered strawberries, but like with a modern twist, right? Yeah, so the recently new trend, Dubai chocolate got all over the world and we're doing fresh strawberries with the chocolate, uh, ganache filling and Dubai filling, which is pistachio paste, crunchy to which is gonna give this very bright and rich flavors, so you have to try it. And I've heard it all, it's all over social media to buy chocolate one of the biggest trends right now and all over I believe from New York from Bryant Park, which it was like $20 for a jar. Oh wow we're gonna do a little smaller so it's more affordable because with these prices right now, that's just insane. So speaking of prices, how, how is the cost of everything with the strawberries and the I can't tell that strawberries got more expensive, but I can tell the chocolate double the price since last September, which is really hard to keep up, but we can't give up our quality. We still use only good French dark chocolate, 61%, which is naturally vegan gluten free, so everybody can enjoy these treats even if you have some dietary restrictions. It's also very low on sugar, which is good for everybody with other. Different sugar problems, for example, or if you're on a diet, a lot of people want to be vegan too. You are vegan, so that's great options and it's so difficult on Valentine's Day when it's all chocolate. Yeah, so this chocolate is delicious, vegan, and it's the best quality. Can do mountains you can buy in the regular store and this is my job, yeah, just pour a little bit over. look at this. We're going to have so much fun this morning. Lily, thank you so much.
