They put together a video about the importance of staying home.
“So, we decided that we could just spread the word about washing your hands, staying safe, staying inside so we thought it was a good idea to make a video,” says goalie Shane Coffey.
Hockey parent Kerri Willson describes the team as a family, and says, parents and players decided together they could do more.
“There are families within our organization that have lost relatives due to the coronavirus, so if there's any way that we can be supporting those on the front lines, we want to be able to do that,” says Willson.

The team took the money they were going to use for their end of the year party and donated it to the Rutgers’ student food pantry, the Raritan Bay Medical Center and Staten Island University Hospital.
They partnered with Bagel Boy in Old Bridge to make the deliveries.
“To be able to celebrate their team in this way and know that they were giving back, I think it gave them a sense of accomplishment,” says Willson.
The boys know as long as they stick together, they will be back on the ice soon enough.
